About HuffingIt

How trauma, midlife, and a mountain trail became the framework for rebuilding a quieter self.

The Alps are beautiful in the summer.

Why I’m Huffing It Now

Huffing It is my journal – from the messy middle of life, where healing from old trauma, rebuilding my body, and training for a solo multi-day hike have become one long, breathless path toward strength, peace, and self-respect.

A single, neatly packed dark forest-green hiking backpack standing upright on a smooth wooden floor beside a large window, zippers closed but slightly strained with gear inside. Next to it, a pair of scuffed but well-cared-for leather hiking boots rest side by side, laces loosely coiled. Through the window, an out-of-focus landscape of distant hills and soft sky suggests possibility. Golden hour sunlight pours in, creating warm highlights on the backpack’s textured fabric and subtle reflections on metal buckles. The composition uses rule of thirds, with sharp focus on the gear and a gentle bokeh outside, conveying a sophisticated, calm sense of readiness, resilience, and solo exploration in photographic realism.
